History: The site includes the Hodges Tract, which consists of 601 acres purchased on March 1, 1999 for $5,085,000 by the SJRWMD and the Cedar Swamp Phase I property, which consists of a conservation easement purchased November 30, 2000 for $28,100,195 by the City ($4,854,746), the State of Florida TIIF ($18,396,244), and the SJRWMD ($4,849,106). The conservation easement is held in what is best described as a life estate of the owner. Ultimately, the District will own the property and it will be managed similarly to the Julington-Durbin Creek Preserve. Currently, the property is privately owned, subject to the terms of the conservation easement.
