History: Purchased on January 6, 2003 for $7,975,588 by the City of Jacksonville with Better Jacksonville funds. Plans are in design for trails, a canoe launch and a scenic overlook. An archeological field school project, funded through a partnership with the Division of Historical Resources and the University of North Florida, will take place on the site in 2007-08. Park closed during construction.
